Specialties: Nashville’s oldest vegetarian and first certified *Kosher restaurant is located on the campus of Vanderbilt University and is part of the school’s meal plan.
Grins (Yiddish for "vegetable"- pronounced "Greens") offers a **regular menu and daily chef-inspired specials that will make (most) folks forget about meat. Offerings include grilled sandwiches, made-from-scratch soups, salads, and baked goods so good you’ll eat ‘em as an appetizer.
The café, located inside the Ben Shulman Center for Jewish Life, is open to all and has parking available for non-university guests.
*The Nashville Kashrut Commission and Rabbi Saul Strosberg from Congregation Sherith Israel, an Orthodox synagogue, provide kosher certification, with a level of supervision called yotzei vinichnas.
**Grins Cafe uses only paper and disposable products due to Kosher regulations. Recycling is encouraged to reduce environmental impact.
