Owners Edris Akbari, Tariq Pakzad, and Khaibar Shafaq are among the over 200 refugees who were resettled here after the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021. When they first arrived in Owensboro, they found themselves preparing food for the other refugees looking for a taste of home, and a good halal meal - which sparked the idea for a restaurant, which finally opened in November 2022. Each of these hard-working men have poured their hearts into opening and running Pamir, bringing the culture, cuisine, and community of Afghanistan to Owensboro.
