María Valencia (Duo) & Jonny Stallings Cárdenas Trio

María Valencia will perform improvisations and compositions from her album Compendio de Alofonías Abisales and will be joined by San Diego-based experimental vocalist Natalia Merlano Gomez. María is a Bogotá-based saxophonist, percussionist, and improviser who records and tours frequently with the Colombian experimental cumbia band Meridian Brothers. Jonny Stallings Cárdenas will open the concert with a set of original free jazz compositions for trio, consisting of Tommy Babin on upright bass, Andrew Munsey on drums, and himself on keyboard/synthesizer. The event is free and all ages.
